Solar Field Maintenance Technician - Tonopah Solar Energy

The Solar Field Maintenance Technician is responsible for all maintenance and repair of the facility's solar collection system. The position reports to the Solar Field Foreman. The Solar Field Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, testing, maintenance, calibration, and proper operation of the facility's solar collection system comprised of approximately 10,000 heliostats.
ESSSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
oPerform all maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of the Solar Collection System.
oDemonstrate specific knowledge of the following:
Complex electromechanical drive systems.
Software based System Diagnostic Tools.
Hardware component Diagnostics and Replacement
I/O Diagnosis, Replacement and Troubleshooting.
Simulation of binary and analog signals.
Systems analysis, administration, and event managing.
Analysis of hardware and software errors.
Basics of microcontrollers.
Function charts and diagrams.
Cabinets, structure and rack arrangement.
Hardware and software components.
oConnect, disconnect, and tag out equipment and circuits for test or repair and safety of personnel and equipment.
oAssist in developing detailed preventive and predictive maintenance procedures for plant solar collection system.
oPerform inspections in compliance with the national electrical code.
oPerform calibration of heliostats.
oPerform basic machine tool operations using the drill press, grinder, and lathe.
oUse the oxy-acetylene torch for cutting, brazing and heating.
oPerform soldering on electronic components.
oPerform rigging.
oPerform complex mechanical repairs.
oMaintain shop and storage areas in a neat and orderly fashion.
oResponsible for the safe and efficient use of materials, tools, and test equipment.
oResponsible for his/her safety and all others working around him/her.
oResponsible for cleaning work area after work is complete.
oCoordinate activities of contractor employees involved in maintenance and repair of plant solar collection equipment.
oComply with plant policy and procedures, in particular, those involving personnel and equipment safety.
oPerform other duties as required and assigned by the Instrumentation & Controls Supervisor or the Maintenance Manager.
oResponsibly operate site vehicles; valid driver's license is required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
o5 years experience in the maintenance and repair of complex industrial machinery.
oKnowledge of AC/DC Circuits, Machines, Electronic theory and components.
oCorrectly interpret complex detailed electrical and electronic drawings and prints.
oThorough knowledge of plant safety procedures.
oStrong knowledge in the use of personal computers and numerous software applications such as Excel, Word, MS Outlook, Powerpoint, Access, etc.
oAbility to productively work independently and as an overall integral Longview team member.
oMust have a thorough knowledge of Plant LOTO system, (Lock-out - Tag-out).
oMust have strong communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate activities with other plant personnel.
oAbility to handle quick changing situations under stress and to work extended hours on short notice if and when required.
oAbility to stay current with changing technologies.

Tonopah, Nevada
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
