Procurement Specialist - Crescent Dunes Solar Energy

The Procurement Specialist reports directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for all procurement activities at the Project. The Procurement Specialist performs all procurement of materials and/or services to support the company's purchasing programs. The Procurement Specialist is responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the company's needs for materials and services. These products and services are to be secured at cost and at delivery levels consistent with company policy and performance standards.
ESSSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
oInitiates purchase orders and amendments for parts, services and/or special tools; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required; maintains close coordination with plant management to ensure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
oSecures and analyzes quotations, negotiates prices and terms with suppliers, and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
oInterviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics inventory control and management; negotiates prices and delivery terms with guidance from a senior Procurement Specialist or the director of purchasing for assigned responsibilities.
oVisits suppliers' facilities to qualify them as new sources and assists in the resolution of production, design, quality and/or delivery problems.
oOther duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
oHigh School Diploma or GED education.
oExperience in Warehouse Database Computer Programs and Warehouse procedures.
oProficient in MS Word, Excel, and electronic mail.
oAbility to productively work independently and as an overall integral team member.
oAbility to handle quick changing situations under stress and to work extended hours on short notice if and when required.
oAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
oAbility to operate forklifts, dollies, ladders, and other stocking equipment.
oHave a valid driver's license.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
oComply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
oParticipate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
oPerform other duties as assigned.
oProvide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
oClean warehouse and other storage areas as required.
oMaintain equipment in storage in as received or better condition.
oAssist other Warehouse personnel as required.
oDevelop training programs for assigned personnel.
oWork with other departments to ensure efficient receiving of items when required.
PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises work through the planning and scheduling of work, and the review and approval of tasks.
Supervises in both their work assignments and performance development (appraisal).
Immediate supervision:
receives close supervision related to specific work activities, assignments, methods, etc; usually receives frequent surveillance over job activities; instructions are detailed and assignments are typical short-term.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general Admin periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, Admin correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER OPERATIONS
Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office/shop environment with adequate ventilation.
Outdoors and indoor shop environment with adequate ventilation.
TRAVEL
Required to be at site twice a month.
LOCATION - Tonopah, Nevada
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
